A celebration of 25 years and a first birthday
It was a week of milestones for the AZURE family, with two celebrations in London marking a quarter of a century for AZURE and the first birthday of Azure Indies.
The festivities began at Brown’s Hotel, where AZURE welcomed its agents, suppliers and partners to celebrate 25 years in business. It was a fitting occasion for a company built on long standing relationships and trust, and a chance to thank the many people who have been part of the journey.
The following day, Azure Indies marked its first year of trading with a birthday lunch at Claridge’s. The Indies, the independent travel business owners at the heart of the network, joined the team alongside suppliers and friends from the trade press.
Chief Executive Officer Abby Penston used the occasion to share the direction for the year ahead and to recognise three consultants who have made an outstanding contribution:
CEO’s Award for Outstanding Contribution: Jo Shayler, for her insight, energy and unwavering support throughout the year.
Changemaker Award: Merv Bates, whose continuous feedback has helped strengthen the Azure Indies model.
Exceptional Client Care Award: Emma Carrigan, for going far beyond what anyone would expect of a travel consultant.
Abby Penston said: “Having our Indies together in one room, sharing where we are heading and feeling the energy behind it, is something no video call can replace. Year one was about proving the model. Year two is about building on it, and we have some exciting plans ahead.”
Chairman Edward Leigh said: “Twenty five years of AZURE and the first year of Azure Indies is really a story about people. I am immensely proud of our team in Chester, our partners and our Indies, who have trusted us with their businesses.”
Azure Indies would like to thank Uniworld and Jumeriah for their generous sponsorship of the lunch, and everyone who joined us across both days.
Independent travel professionals interested in finding out more about Azure Indies are warmly invited to get in touch.
